10th Google for India Event
On October 3, 2024, Google India hosted the tenth edition of its "Google for India" event, marking a decade of transformative advancements in the Indian tech landscape. The Managing Director of Google India, Roma Datta Chobey, reflected on how India has established itself as a global tech powerhouse, driven by innovative digital solutions and groundbreaking initiatives that have changed lives.
2 Cards Charging 0% Interest Until 2026
Paying down your credit card balance can be tough with the majority of your payment going to interest. Avoid interest charges for up to 18 months with these cards.
A Decade of Transformation
Over the past ten years, India has witnessed remarkable technological growth. The nation now boasts the world’s lowest data prices, making video content the primary gateway to the internet for millions of Indians. Digital initiatives such as the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) have redefined financial transactions, while CoWin has facilitated access to health passports digitally, setting a standard that many nations are still striving to achieve.
Google's engagement in India has deepened significantly since its humble beginnings in Bengaluru and Hyderabad in 2004. Today, with multiple offices across five cities, the company collaborates closely with Indian innovators to anticipate and shape global tech trends. This collaboration has become increasingly vital as Google emphasizes support for AI development in the country.
The AI Opportunity
Chobey underscored Google’s commitment to harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) for the benefit of every Indian. AI is positioned as a transformative force that can enhance healthcare, revolutionize agriculture, and ultimately turn India’s demographic diversity into a significant economic advantage.
To navigate the challenges and opportunities posed by AI, Google has introduced the "AI Opportunity Agenda for India." This framework aims to maximize AI's potential to drive economic growth and promote inclusivity, while establishing India as a global leader in public service innovation.
