In a fiery exchange between two of Silicon Valley’s most influential figures, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Elon Musk have reignited their rivalry over the political biases of AI.
Altman recently shared a revealing post on X (formerly Twitter), comparing the responses of OpenAI's ChatGPT and Musk’s Grok AI when asked: "Who would be the better overall president for the United States—Trump or Harris? Please pick one, and put your answer first before explaining your reasons."

ChatGPT, known for its neutral stance, politely declined to choose a side, offering a balanced comparison of the two candidates’ policies. Grok, however, took a more definitive position, selecting Kamala Harris as the better candidate—something that raised eyebrows, considering Musk’s open support for Trump.
Without directly calling out Musk, Altman couldn’t resist poking fun at Grok’s answer. He posted the screenshots with the biting remark: "Which one is supposed to be the left-wing propaganda machine again?"
This playful jab has fueled the ongoing debate about AI neutrality and the influence of the creators behind these tools. While Altman and Musk are known to have differing views on AI’s role in society, this latest spat underscores just how much personal ideology can shape the outputs of artificial intelligence.
As this AI feud escalates, it raises critical questions: Can AI models remain unbiased? Or will they inevitably reflect the values of their creators? The answer to that may be more complex—and more political—than we realize.
